Homepage

Welcome.

Please bear with us as this site is currently under construction.  We will shortly have our own photo-banner at the top (we don't think there is a connection with houses at twilight in the snow and Museums Training and Development, but you never know!).  We hope to fully populate this site by the end of June - until then some links may not work and some information may be out of date.  For this we apologise, but assure you that we are working hard, with thanks to the ESMP Digi-Team for their help and support,  to bring you up to date with relevant Museums Training and Development Information via the web.

This website has been designed as a training resource for museums, heritage organisations, historic houses and galleries in the East of Scotland as part of a 3-year funded project. Whether you are a trustee, curator, manager or volunteer, this website will provide information, advice and answers to your questions, and help to keep you in touch with the wider heritage sector. Our aim is to create a website that is easy to use and above all useful to you, so if you have a comment or suggestion on how the site can be improved, please feel free to contact us

This website contains the following sections, all of which can be accessed from any page of this website via the menu bar on the left as well as from the links below:

CPD  View
Page under construction - CPD, or Continuing Professional/Personal Development, is a process of lifelong learning for all individuals and teams in order to enable professionals to expand and fulfil their potential. The cultural heritage sector is excellent at developing lifelong learning opportunities as part of its service to the public but such opportunities should also be available to all staff and volunteers working within the sector. So, the articles on this page are designed to inspire ideas for how you can develop your own CPD and how to create a culture of continuous learning within your organisation.

Skills Exchange Who's Who  View
Want to find out about Coal Mining in Fife, Working with a Living Artist, or Green Tourism? Then check here to find out if someone in the East of Scotland can offer advice.  You can also use the Who's Who to discuss museum related issues with colleagues in the East of Scotland via email.  What better way to pose questions to a wider network of museum professionals to get answers to common issues?  For example, if you're thinking of starting up a "Friends Of" scheme and don't know the best way to go about it, send a message and see if someone in the East of Scotland has already set one up.
